Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney Announces Federal Funding for Solar One In
a package worth more than $637,000 for at-risk New York City kids,
Solar One will receive $164,500 for our green collar job training
program.
"These programs give students the chance to learn
skills that will serve them well as they enter college or the
workforce," said Christopher Collins, executive director of Solar One,
"and we are grateful to Congresswoman Maloney for providing support
that will alow us to improve and expand these programs in the coming
year."
Solar One was one of four groups to receive the grants,
which are part of the omnibus spending bill passed on December 26,
2007, along with the 92nd Street Y, El Museo del Barrio and the New
York Center for Children.
With the interest in and need for a
strong, well-trained green collar workforce increasing all the time,
this is an incredible opportunity for New York City residents to lead
the charge!
